Legalpeople is seeking a part-time marketing and advertising attorney to support a well-known publishing company's marketing and media services business. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various sales-side commercial agreements while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of sales-side commercial agreements, including:
- Advertising agreements
- Insertion orders
- Agency agreements
- Licensing agreements
- Subscription agreements (highest volume)
- Custom content agreements
- Event and event sponsorship agreements
- Partnership agreements tied to sponsorships
- Barter/trade-of-services agreements
- Work from templates and prior examples to ensure consistency across documents
- Prepare both clean and redlined versions for internal visibility
- Negotiate directly with counterparties as a representative of Dow Jones
- Maintain strong communication, including prompt acknowledgment of requests, setting timelines, and participating in regular check-ins
Skills
- Candidates must have 7+ years of commercial contracts experience in media, advertising, marketing services, subscriptions, licensing, events, or similar sales-side work
- Active license to practice law in the U.S
- Comfortable drafting and negotiating independently in a fast-paced environment
- Highly adaptable and able to operate with ambiguity
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Strong communicator with a responsive, proactive working style
- Reliable, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and align with stakeholder preferences
- Experience in the publishing industry is a plus
