Job description: Summary Description: The Director of Student Success reports to the VP of IE and leads a data-driven Student Success Unit to identify and help students in need of academic and non-academic support services. The Director will develop and manage effective programming to help Coker students successfully complete their educational goals.
- With a foundation of excellence and integrity, lead University student retention and success efforts. This includes identification, through the data-driven discovery, of poor performance and/or scalable positive actions to improve student outcomes
- Proactively coordinate student support services through innovative event programming and effective collaboration with faculty, staff, and various entities throughout the University community beginning when a student confirms enrollment at Coker through their graduation,
- Develop and assess student achievement metrics including leading indicators of student success
- Approach all projects, activities, and initiatives with a cadence of continuous improvement
- Recommend changes to the University advising model while overseeing academic advising services, which include degree planning and advising for undergraduate degree-seeking students, including deciding students,
- Maintain an environment of continuous improvement in the Student Success Center that includes effective assessment and healthy professional development processes for self and staff,
- Maximize TRIO program capacities to positively influence student outcomes,
- Maximize the engagement of first-year students, in particular, with programs and services,
- Work closely with the athletic department administration and coaches to support student athletes,
- Identify at-risk students and manage support efforts for these students including, but not limited to tutoring, cohorts, and other academic support programs,
- Serve on assigned University committees,
- Adhere to and ensure employees adhere to the University Standards of Service
- Other duties as assigned.
- It is the responsibility of this position to use Coker's strategic plan and institutional scorecard to create performance expectations. This includes specific duties for which employees reporting to this position will be held accountable in terms of performance evaluation
- Proven ability to influence the retention of students
- Proven ability to increase student success of at-risk populations/students
- Experience in the initiation and/or application of curriculum changes/interventions to encourage student success.
- Demonstrated innovative and strategic leadership of teams in long-term and short-term planning and goal attainment.
- Proven fiscal responsibility and project management skills.
- Ability to learn or use Colleague By Ellucian®.
- Professional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to move about the campus while positively addressing students and colleagues.
- Due to the nature of the job responsibilities, this position requires an on-campus presence; remote applicants will not be considered.
