Advanced, managerial and supervisory work directing the activities of technical inspection and plan review staff in the coordination of the inspection and plan review for small-scale commercial and small to mid-scale residential construction plans for compliance with the State and County's construction codes, related regulations and Building Division's policies and procedures. Accountable for the final review of complex or usual permit applications and construction plans submitted for permit approval. Also responsible for the supervision of residential plan review including the resolution of major plan review issues along with the coordination of all inspection of activity through the supervision of the Chief Inspectors. Meets with customers both general public and contractors, for the resolution of inspection and plan review concerns. Duties are performed within the framework provided by construction codes, related regulations and Building Division policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by the Deputy Building Official through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained. Responsible for leading the coordination activities of four categories of inspections including structural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing through Chief Inspectors with major and repeat customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of 10 years of combined experience as an Architect, Engineer, Contractor, Inspector, or Trades Worker including five (5) years in a supervisory position and two (2) years in construction inspections or construction plans examining.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess three (3) Standard Certifications including Structural Inspector, Structural Plans Examiner plus one (1) additional Inspector or Plans Examiner Certification in any of the other categories (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) OR One-Family and Two-Family Dwelling Certification per Florida Statute (FS) 468 at time of application (COPIES of certifications must be uploaded to online application within three (3) business days of application submittal).

OR

May substitute equivalent International Code Council (ICC) or other nationally recognized certifications and the ability to obtain FS468 Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB) provisional certifications within 90 days and standard certifications within 11 months of hire. May also substitute current registration in the State of Florida as an Architect or Engineer.

PREFERENCE FOR: Certification as a State of Florida Building Code Administrator.
