The role involves supporting, maintaining, and enhancing mainframe applications while providing technical leadership and guidance to junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM
- Experience in enterprise-level ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Service Manager, etc.) and their operational workflows
- Worked on waterfall and agile methodology projects; capable of handling - Incidents, Service Requests and Change Requests simultaneously
- Provide technical troubleshooting and resolution for complex application and integration
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Mainframe applications and database queries
- Develop technical documentation (Knowledge Base articles, SOPs) for business and support teams
- Understand both functional and technical requirements and provide implementation/change options aligned with business needs
Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support and maintenance
- Proficiency in mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies
- Experience with version control systems and software development tools
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
