The Sales Engineer serves as the technical partner to the Commercial Sales team, responsible for scoping and validating mobile and water system solutions while ensuring that every proposal is technically feasible and commercially accurate.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the technical generation of sales proposals by defining the scope of work, identifying inputs, and verifying equipment configurations prior to contract generation
- Partner with Sales Representatives to maintain accurate opportunity data within Salesforce. Responsible for ensuring that technical configurations, scoping notes, and product details are kept up-to-date to support accurate team forecasting and pipeline reporting
- Create preliminary 2D site layouts and room plans using AutoCAD LT to demonstrate equipment fit and workflow feasibility for customer approval
- Lead the technical handoff of won projects to the Project Management, Engineering, and Service teams. Ensure the 'sold solution' is clearly defined to prevent scope creep during execution
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) during client presentations and video calls to answer engineering-related questions and validate customer infrastructure requirements
- Verify that proposed solutions adhere to relevant healthcare standards (AAMI, FGI, ASHRAE) and facility constraints to mitigate commercial risk
Skills
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Medical Equipment Planning, or Technical Sales
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read and accurately interpret architectural blueprints, mechanical site plans, P&IDs, and electrical/logic schematics
- MEP & Infrastructure Knowledge: Broad familiarity with facility infrastructure and common building standards (NEC, plumbing, fire codes). An understanding of the practical challenges of connecting complex equipment to existing hospital utility systems is strongly desired
- Systems & Controls: Working knowledge of mechanical control mechanisms (valves, gauges, sensors) and custom digital monitoring systems (basic sensor configuration and signal processing). Expert-level is not required, but a strong, multi-disciplinary technical aptitude is essential
- Stakeholder Interfacing: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate and troubleshoot with a wide variety of professionals—including hospital facility maintenance, SPD service technicians, architects, electricians, and plumbers
- Software Proficiency: Experience working collaboratively within Salesforce to manage technical data
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD LT for 2D floor plan layouts
- Software Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word)
- Specialized Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with AAMI/ASHRAE/FGI guidelines or Sterile Processing (SPD) workflows is highly preferred
- Specialized Industry Knowledge: A foundational understanding of water purification technologies is a strong plus
