Pearce Services is the nation’s leading independent service provider for critical telecommunication and renewable energy infrastructure. They are seeking a Renewables Control Center Technician to monitor and control commercial and utility-scale wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage facilities, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Identify and ticket plant communication, equipment outages, and under-production issues using SCADA, DAS, and a computerized maintenance management system
- Function as the primary point of contact with Balancing Authorities, Transmission Operators, Distribution Operators, and Scheduling Entities while utilizing three-part communication
- Maintain logs of solar plant operations including notification of events and communications in accordance with Remote Operations Center (ROC) procedures
- Schedule planned and unplanned outages with Scheduling Entities
- Initiate responses to plant changes, site trips, feeder circuit trips, loss of communications, etc
Skills
- Experience working as a control room operator for renewable generation
- Ability to work with different management styles and in a fast-paced multi-cultural environment under tight deadlines and demanding customers (internal and external)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to solve problems of both a technical and operational nature
- Knowledge of commercial and utility-scale solar electrical generating facility design, operations, and typical maintenance issues
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment where decisions directly impact personnel safety and equipment reliability
- Strong computer skills-mastery of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS) applications is required
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required for 24-7 coverage
- Position requires routine personnel interaction with Remote Operations Center (ROC) staff on all shifts
- Routine operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
- Frequent oral and written communications
- Power generation experience, wind or solar background preferred
