California Correctional Health Care Services is seeking a Legal Tech Trainee to support attorneys in the Correctional Law and Antitrust Sections. The role involves performing various clerical tasks, including typing, editing documents, and assisting with administrative responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of clerical tasks for the POD
- Typing and editing correspondence
- Assisting with travel arrangements and expense claims
- Administrative tasks such as processing and tracking invoices, service authorizations, and Revolving Fund requests
- Preparing closed files by boxing and preparing labels for delivery to the Docketing Unit
- Assisting with trial prep such as labeling exhibits and binder prep
- Other clerical tasks
Skills
- Ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications
- Valid typing certificate confirming ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired
- Fingerprint check will be required
- Clearly indicate the Job Control Code (JC-523230) and the title of this position in the 'Examination or Job Title(s) For Which You Are Applying' section located on the first page of your State Application
- Thorough and completely filled out application package describing in detail background experience and/or education duties
- If using education to meet the minimum qualifications, a copy of transcript or diploma must be submitted
- Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov
- Resume is required and must be included
- Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be submitted along with your state application and cannot be replaced by the required resume
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and tactfully with all levels of staff, and ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters
- Experience working in a law office and supporting attorneys (State DOJ a plus)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good attendance record
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint (SharePoint and Pro Law is a plus)
- Experience with processing invoices for review and payment
- Experience with making travel arrangements and requests for reimbursement
