The Instructional Designer will design, develop, and implement high-quality learning solutions in collaboration with subject matter experts and training teams to enhance organizational performance.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop interactive eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise
- Create and update ILT/vILT content, including slide decks, facilitator guides, participant guides, and hands-on exercises
- Conduct needs assessments and partner with SMEs to gather content, validate accuracy, and ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Apply adult learning theory, instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM), and evidence-based learning methods to all training deliverables
- Develop performance support tools (job aids, quick reference guides, workflows, checklists) to reinforce learning on the job
- Build assessment strategies such as quizzes, case studies, simulations, and knowledge checks to measure competency
- Evaluate training effectiveness using Kirkpatrick or comparable frameworks and make recommendations for improvement
- Manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders; communicate progress and risks proactively
- Manage and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS), including course setup, assignment rules, tracking and reporting, troubleshooting user issues, maintaining training catalogs, ensuring data integrity, and testing new functionality
- Ensure all learning materials meet accessibility standards, brand guidelines, and version-control requirements
- Support live training sessions as needed, including facilitation or technical production support
- Assist with enterprise-wide learning initiatives, orientation programs, and major go-live training events
- Maintain professional knowledge of instructional design trends, eLearning technologies, and best practices
- Participate in team meetings, cross-functional committees, and continuous improvement efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the organization's training strategy
Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Articulate 360 (Storyline & Rise), including branching scenarios, simulations, and interactive design
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and design tools such as Canva, Snagit, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts
- Strong project management capability: planning, prioritization, and time management
- Ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs, clinical leaders, and cross-functional partners
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and user experience (UX) considerations
- Ability to analyze data and evaluation results to inform content improvements
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communication, Learning & Development, or related field required
- 3–5 years of experience in instructional design, eLearning development, or adult learning within healthcare, corporate training, or a similar environment
- Demonstrated experience developing eLearning using Articulate Storyline and Rise
- Experience designing blended learning (ILT, vILT, eLearning, microlearning)
- Experience managing and administering a Learning Management System
- Experience working directly with SMEs and leading end-to-end course development projects
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Educational Technology, or related discipline preferred
- Professional certifications such as ATD CPLP/CTDP, eLearning Guild certifications, or Articulate specialist certifications preferred
