LHH is partnering with a leading industrial-focused organization seeking a Business Unit Controller to support a major operational business unit. This role involves acting as a strategic finance partner while owning core accounting, reporting, and cost accounting functions within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial reporting for the business unit, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Deliver actionable insights to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making
- Own budgeting and forecasting processes, partnering closely with operations leaders
- Analyze key performance drivers, including cost accounting metrics, variances, and operational KPIs
- Develop forward-looking financial models and strategic plans
- Evaluate capital investments and support long-term growth initiatives
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Strengthen internal controls and risk management processes
- Partner cross-functionally to identify operational efficiencies and cost improvement opportunities
- Lead and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals
- Support ongoing systems and process enhancements to improve reporting and scalability
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or business unit leadership roles
- Strong background in manufacturing or cost accounting environments
- Proven ability to partner with operations and influence decision-making
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong business acumen with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset
- CPA or MBA
