The Remote IT Epic Project Engineer I provides IT project management leadership for Epic initiatives across the healthcare system. This role manages projects through the full project management lifecycle including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing to deliver sustainable results aligned with strategic goals.
Working independently in a fast-paced environment, this role coordinates project teams, communicates with stakeholders at all levels, and ensures Epic projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The Remote IT Epic Project Engineer I develops deep knowledge of Epic functionality, integrations, and operational workflows to support successful implementations, upgrades, and optimizations.
This position is 100% remote. Candidates must reside in one of the following states: AL, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, NC, PA, RI, SC, VA, WV, or WI.
What You Bring to the Table
Educational Foundation
Associate degree or higher required
Professional Experience
7+ years of healthcare experience
3+ years of Epic specific IT experience
Documented completion of at least 1 successful Epic implementation
Strong collaboration, communication, and follow up skills
Strong project management, leadership, and delegation skills
Strong technical, troubleshooting, organization, and time management skills
Strong Epic application build and testing experience
Licenses and Certifications
Project Management Professional certification
Epic certification in at least 1 application
Extra Skills That Set You Apart
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, or related field
10+ years of healthcare or IT experience
5+ years of Epic specific experience
Completion of 2 or more successful Epic implementations

Manages project teams, stakeholder communication, and leadership updates
Leads and coordinates project teams through the full project lifecycle
Promotes collaboration, teamwork, and shared accountability across project teams

Establishes and maintains relationships with sponsors, operational owners, and stakeholders
Planning, Scope, and Delivery
Coordinates projects and interdependencies across initiatives
Manages project scope, schedule, and cost using appropriate change control processes
Sets deadlines based on project team input and organizational priorities
Executes projects on time, within scope, and within budget
Leads planning, execution, go live, and post live support activities
Risk, Quality, and Governance
Identifies and manages project risks, issues, and corrective actions
Escalates resource and issue concerns to functional and portfolio leadership
Supports approved IT security standards and use of technically approved products
Monitors project progress, outcomes, and stakeholder satisfaction
Documentation, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation
Evaluates project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
Supports budgeting and resource allocation processes
Attends training and conferences to maintain Epic and project management proficiency
Performs additional duties as assigned
