They are seeking a Director of Practice Operations to lead the operational management of a national virtual physician practice, coordinating various non-clinical workstreams to ensure readiness for patient care and scalable growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operational setup and ongoing administration of a national virtual physician practice
- Coordinate practice startup activities across multiple states and support readiness for new market launches
- Develop and implement operational workflows supporting physician practice operations
- Establish standard operating procedures for administrative and clinical support functions
- Coordinate physician onboarding activities from recruitment through operational readiness
- Partner with physician leadership on scheduling, staffing, communication, and operational support needs
- Ensure physicians have the resources, tools, workflows, and support required to begin practicing
- Support physician satisfaction, provider communications, and operational issue resolution
- Coordinate closely with credentialing and payer contracting teams to align provider readiness with market launch timelines
- Monitor physician credentialing status, payer contracting milestones, and operational dependencies
- Ensure physicians are scheduled only after required payer participation and readiness requirements have been completed
- Maintain implementation plans across multiple operational workstreams
- Coordinate cross-functional meetings, governance updates, milestones, and deliverables
- Identify operational risks, escalate issues appropriately, and recommend practical mitigation strategies
- Prepare executive dashboards, status reports, and operational updates for client and CWH leadership
- Support implementation of policies, procedures, compliance documentation, and audit readiness activities
- Coordinate state licensing, regulatory, and operational compliance support needs
- Coordinate implementation of practice management systems, EHR workflows, technology onboarding, and vendor relationships
- Support workflow optimization and process improvement as the practice scales
Skills
- 7+ years of healthcare operations experience coupled with a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years managing physician practice operations, medical group administration, ambulatory care operations, or similar provider operations
- Experience supporting multi-provider practices or provider organizations
- Strong understanding physician onboarding, credentialing, scheduling, revenue cycle, compliance, and healthcare operations
- Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Ability to build structure, workflows, and operating processes in a fast-moving environment
- Strong communication skills with physicians, executive leaders, operational teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Exceptional organization, follow-up, and attention to detail
- Ability to translate operational status, risks, dependencies, and next steps into clear executive-level updates
- Experience launching, expanding, or scaling physician practices
- Multi-state healthcare operations experience
- Telehealth or virtual care experience
- Experience supporting national provider organizations
- Familiarity with managed care contracting, payer readiness, and provider participation requirements
- Experience with physician compensation models
- Experience implementing healthcare technology platforms, practice management systems, or EHR workflows
- Lean, Six Sigma, project management, or related operational certification
- Consulting, client-facing, or project-based healthcare experience
