Respiratory Therapist Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our dynamic care team in an adult, acute care, Level 1 Trauma Center environment. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, team-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality respiratory care. This role is responsible for performing a variety of respiratory therapy treatments, responding to emergency situations, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout all respiratory procedures.
Respiratory Therapist Job Responsibilities
Confirm and interpret physician orders to assess appropriateness of therapy and ensure quality patient care.
Perform and document assessments, monitor patient tolerance and response to therapy, and notify healthcare team of any unusual reactions or concerns.
Educate patients on procedures, addressing questions and concerns in a respectful, compassionate manner.
Administer medical gases, aerosol therapy, bronchodilators, and other medications in accordance with protocols.
Set up, operate, and maintain respiratory equipment, including:
PB 980 & PB 840 ventilators
V60 non-invasive ventilator
ParaPacPlus transport ventilator
Epoc hand-held blood analyzer
Participate in emergency response situations, including CPR and rapid response events.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and provide input on protocol development.
Accurately complete documentation, including medical records and billing information.
Participate in educational outreach to patients, families, students, and fellow healthcare providers.
Maintain clinical competency through ongoing education and in-services. Respiratory Therapist Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an AMA or CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Registry Eligible).
Licensure & Certification:
Valid Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) license issued by the State Medical Board of Ohio.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
