About the Role Our client is seeking a dedicated Farm Sustainability Coordinator to champion and implement environmentally sound practices across their agricultural operations in the **Detroit, Michigan** area. This role will focus on developing and overseeing programs that enhance soil health, conserve water resources, reduce waste, and promote biodiversity. The ideal candidate is passionate about sustainable agriculture and possesses a strong understanding of ecological principles and modern conservation techniques. You will work closely with farm managers, researchers, and external partners to integrate sustainability into all aspects of farming. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor sustainability initiatives across all farm operations, aligning with organizational goals. Conduct environmental impact assessments and identify areas for improvement in resource management (water, energy, soil). Oversee programs related to soil health, including cover cropping, reduced tillage, and organic matter enhancement. Manage water conservation efforts, including irrigation efficiency and watershed protection strategies. Develop and implement waste reduction and recycling programs for farm operations. Promote biodiversity through habitat restoration and management plans. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and certification standards (e.g., organic, regenerative). Collect and analyze data on key sustainability metrics, preparing regular reports for management. Educate and train farm staff on sustainable practices and their importance. Collaborate with research institutions and industry partners on sustainability projects. Represent the company at sustainability-focused conferences and workshops. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Agriculture, Agronomy, Ecology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental management, sustainability coordination, or a related role within the agricultural sector. Solid understanding of soil science, water management, biodiversity, and conservation principles. Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability certifications relevant to agriculture. Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting on environmental performance. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with sustainability tracking software. Passion for environmental stewardship and sustainable farming practices. Ability to conduct site visits and work effectively in a team environment.
