Epic Instructional Design Specialist / eLearning Developer

Must have EPIC OpTime and Anesthesia certifications Our healthcare client is seeking an experienced Epic Instructional Design Specialist / eLearning Developer to support the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Epic training programs and educational content. This role is ideal for a highly skilled Epic training professional with extensive experience in instructional design, eLearning development, adult learning methodologies, and healthcare technology implementations. The selected candidate will serve as a subject matter expert, collaborating with Epic analysts, operational leaders, and stakeholders to create engaging learning experiences that improve user adoption, workflow efficiency, and overall system utilization. Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Design & eLearning Development • Design, develop, and maintain Epic training curriculum, eLearning modules, job aids, reference guides, and educational materials. • Create engaging, interactive, and scenario-based learning experiences using multimedia and web-based technologies. • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to maximize learner engagement and knowledge retention. • Develop assessments, knowledge checks, and evaluation tools to measure learning outcomes. • Ensure training content remains current with Epic upgrades, workflow changes, and new technology implementations. Epic Training & Education Leadership • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned Epic applications and workflows. • Lead educational validation sessions related to Epic upgrades, build modifications, and new implementations. • Act as a point of escalation for training-related technical questions and issues. • Mentor and support training team members to strengthen technical and instructional competencies. • Educate employees and leaders on effective use of learning technologies and learning management systems. Project & Program Management • Lead and manage multiple instructional design and training initiatives simultaneously. • Conduct training needs assessments and identify performance gaps. • Develop project plans, monitor progress, and provide status updates to stakeholders. • Prioritize training projects and ensure deliverables are completed on time and within scope. • Collaborate with Epic analysts, operational leaders, and subject matter experts to align training with organizational goals. Learning Technology & Analytics • Administer and support Learning Management Systems (LMS) and related learning technologies. • Oversee Epic training environments and provide guidance regarding environment structure and usage. • Leverage learning analytics and reporting tools to evaluate program effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities. • Utilize emerging learning technologies and innovative content development approaches, including gamification, xAPI, virtual learning, and interactive media. Required Qualifications • Minimum 7 years of Epic training, education, or implementation experience. • Minimum 7 years of instructional design and eLearning development experience. • Experience developing web-based learning, multimedia training, and online educational programs. • Experience managing education components of complex projects with defined objectives, deliverables, and timelines. • Experience conducting training needs analyses and developing performance-based learning solutions. • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and learner engagement strategies. • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and integrated learning technologies. • Epic Master Training Environment (MST) build experience. • Proven ability to lead multiple projects, manage competing priorities, and meet aggressive deadlines. • Strong analytical, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Experience creating and maintaining curriculum, educational content, assessments, and supporting documentation. • Experience with content authoring tools, multimedia development, graphic design, usability principles, and media delivery formats. Required Education • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Required Certifications • Epic Certification in one or more Epic modules. • Instructional Design Certificate. Preferred Qualifications • Multiple Epic certifications. • Experience serving as the primary Epic training resource for a healthcare organization. • Experience supporting large-scale Epic implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives. • Knowledge of emerging learning technologies and learning analytics platforms.
